ESEutil cc Recovery Storage Group – To Replay logs

ESEUTIL command is a powerful Exchange server database utility that perform three tasks: defrag, check the .edb database and repair corrupted data. The command with command prompt /cc is used to replay the logs and should be run against.


ESEUTIL /cc syntax: ESEUTIL /CC “d:\temp\First Storage Group”


Hard Recovery by the command: ESEutil /cc path to directory containing restore.env


  • eseutil /mh syntax: eseutil/MH database-name.

Note:This command doesn’t work on cluster mode.


How to run ESEUTIL cc Recovery Storage Group Command

Initiate the process of replaying transactional logs only after the restoring the last backup of the database.


  1. Click START » RUN, type cmd, and Enter.
  2. Find the location of the restore env.
  3. Type eseutil /cc without any other parameter


  4. The command will successfully finish, with message, “Operation completed successfully”

Common Scenario with ESEUTIL /CC

 Before initiating with eseutill /cc user must restore an Exchange mailstore backup, which can be done by using eseutill /a command. This command restore a special file (restore.env) tha contain information in correct sequence form. Thus before starting up with /cc it is mandatory to run eseutil /a command-line utility. Once the restoration get over successfully using eseutil /a switch the file gets the name restore.env.
